Destin of Smarter Every Day went down the drain in my books as soon as he published a video about Flagella, and ended it by suggesting it could be intelligent design and told viewers to read a book authored by someone who is a staunch believer of intelligent design.
Crossed the line as a science Youtuber. You don't need to be athiest to be a scientist, and he definitely isn't. But you should at least know the line.
Finding out this site is basically just a copy of something that already existed and something they knew existed just further degrades my opinion of him. Especially with it being littered with ads. The ad literally takes up half my screen.

I don't agree with intelligent design either simply because it is based on no data or scientific theory.
I also expect Destin to know better than to suggest that.

The problem he found was not unregulated free market capitalism, rather the opposite. Suppliers and supply chains did not operate on the free market and the denigration of manufacturing in north America due to worker/talent shortage

Outsourcing to cheaper locales is the unregulated free market at work. Why would the free market pay you more when I can pay less to someone else, for equivalent enough work? Because you’re an American? The unregulated market does not care about that factor. Manufacturing doesn’t pay enough to attract workers, if it did, this wouldn’t be a problem.

It doesn't seem they have problems with the content existing in itself or desire his arrest over it. They're just disappointed in things like billing that as science or copying someone else's free stuff for ad revenue and that lowered their view of them.
Maybe that's not reasonable, maybe it is, but I dunno enough details about Galileo's prosecution to follow this comparison as a take on that - did he try to claim heliocentrism was the word of God and so some religious people said they stopped liking his works because of the false billing? Where'd the house arrest come in?

I also think that would be pretty cool. But, I think one of the things that people have loved about my site is that it really just sticks to answering the question that the URL asks and tries not to get lost in the read-more sauce. At one point we had an iOS app that had more information (and notifications!) but that thing hasn't been updated in a long time.

I liked checking that website, until it listed the Artemis II crew for weeks after they came back. Now I have no idea how accurate it is; I don't know what other source to compare it to.
But maybe there's a more reliable method it uses for tracking the ISS astronauts, and the Artemis II needed more human input or something. For what it's worth, both websites currently list the same ten astronauts.

Yeah you're not wrong. I've updated this site by hand since 2009. There's not one data source so for a long time I was that data source. I'll be honest: I got kind of soul-crushed when Bezos and Elon started sending people up in a way that just started to feel really dirty to me. Honestly I hated updating the site, then having to update it again an hour later every time Bezos sent someone up. It's only been in the last year that I've started keeping it current.

Some reasons I don't use them anymore (in no specific order)
1. I have had them subtly mess with websites I am working on and I probably wasted multiple hours troubleshooting an issue that wasn't an issue
2. I have had them break a web form when I was trying to purchase something
3. I have purchased some things I like from ads and wouldn't have discovered otherwise
4. I don't frequent websites that overuse them or I can't work around them
5. I'm on a work laptop sometimes and I'm not allowed to use them for corp security reasons
6. I'm not sure I trust the ad blockers themselves, their developers, or their own app security
7. It's another process that can slow down viewing a webpage

If your website is going to be used by people with an adblocker, discovering that an adblocker unintentionally breaks your website is a feature of using one, not a bug.

That is true, but does not help a person who is not building a given website.
I have had financial websites impacted by adblockers, which is why I stopped using them. (I do not work on all of the teams building the financial websites I use.)

It's not the clicks, it's the cognitive load of discovering & remembering which sites break due to an adblocker. (This set of sites changes as the sites themselves evolve.)
The main point is you were writing advice to someone as if they were building the website, when most of us are not generally building the sites we use.

I have these both installed as 'extensions' on my homeassistant.vm and it works wonderfully. Any device that is on my local network, ads blocked. If I want to access my home network and/or block ads when mobile, tailscale gets connected, ads blocked. highest of recommendation, I agree.

I was on mobile, there might be mobile ad-blockers for google chrome I dont know about, but I do not use them. On my pc of course I use adblockers, I'd have gone crazy by now if I didn't!!
I could download some browser with adblocking built-in from the appstore but then I wouldn't have access to all my bookmarks and everything from chrome.

This is pretty cool. Number of humans in space feels like a good proxy for space progress.
So it would be interesting to have a metrics dashboard view of it.
For example a daily / weekly / monthly graph of how many people are in space during each timeframe.
Filters by company, nationality, age, etc.
Would be an interesting way to see how space progress is being made and where it's mostly coming from.

Safari on MacBook Pro sees the time text wrapping in such a way that when the time is pushed to the next line, it literally overlaps partly with the "Total Time in space" label. The time is halfway up the letters of the label.

I don't think so. So far all fatalities [0] happened either during launch or during launch or during landing. The only fatal incident that happened technically still in space (above the Kármán line) is Soyuz 11 [1], but it happened after the landing sequence was already started, so the capsule landed normally, just with the dead crew.
It appears that just hanging out in the orbit is relatively safe, going up there and going down is risky.
Same with aircraft, btw, most accidents happen during take-off, shortly after take-off or during landing. Cruising at a stable altitude is very safe.

Technically, you would need to go to Waitangi, NZ (the closest city to Moscow's antipodal point [0]). When you are in the orbit you will periodically be much closer to Putin than if you just stayed at the antipodal point or close to it.
