The jargon just sneaks up on you. At first reading it, then writing it. Once the friction is skipped--you wanted to type the main idea faster--now it's ingrained.
Maybe the humane is to resolve resigning before an injust offing:
I the manager
Quit before quitting others
Refuse to lead last
