Just excorcised windows from the last non-linux system in the house. Noticeable improvement for gaming and media handling.
Outside a few niches, almost everything is better on Linux now. It should be the default and would be better for most users if it were what they started with.

It's been nearly thirty years since the first version of Linux. At this rate, it will only be another ~500 years before Linux reaches full adoption.
Windows (and Linux) will die of old age before Linux takes over the desktop.

Yeah I dont think Linux will take over, nor do I want it to. With “win” I just meant for Linux desktop to gain a market share enough for vendors (software and hardware) to be hopefully obliged to support it.
That said, we’re already seeing problems caused by Linux “monoculture” (the very thing we didn’t like about windows in the 90s) - OSS supporting just Linux and no other open source operating systems.
Or as I gleaned from the jargon file “all the world’s a vax.”
