I disagree. Apple TVs are a black box, which makes it difficult to know what data is being sent to their servers. Most other streaming devices are based on Android, and can be customized and traced more easily.

Network traffic can be reviewed. Apple publishes a list of servers and their purposes.

Recent versions of Apple TV support the Tailscale/Wireguard VPN overlay network.
